Venus Dumped Out

Monday, June 25th, 2012

Five time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams has been dumped out in the first round. The 32 year old American was easily beaten 6-1 6-3 by Elena Vesrina of Russia.

Williams never looked comfortable and she looked beaten from a long way out.

It’s only the second time she has ever lost at Wimbledon in the first round.

Meanwhile in the mens Novak Djokovic is through after beating former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3 6-3 6-1.

Not the most convincing of performances but at least he is there.

Bye Bye Jose

Jose Mourinho has been shown the door at Real Madrid and the chances are he will end up back at Chelsea. Mourinho has three years of his contract still to run at Madrid but they decided enough was enough after one of the worst seasons in the history of the club.

They lost the La Liga title to Barcelona, were dumped out of the Champions League at the semi final for the third year in a row and last weekend they lost the Copa del Rey final to neighbours Athletico 2-1. To make matters worse Ronaldo was sent off in that game and so too was Mourinho.

In his three years he won a league title and a cup but all in all it was a failure in Madrid. Only last month he hinted that perhaps English football was the place for him as he wanted to be loved and he knew of at least one club that did. That club is Chelsea. He won back to back Premiership titles with them before leaving after a fall out with owner  Abramovic.

Jonny Says Yes

Ulster led 18-3 at the break and there was no coming back for the Welsh side after that. They tried to to the end to be fair and two tries from Gareth Davies and Sione Timani did make it closer but in truth Ulster were always best.

A Heineken cup final appearance last season followed by this shows this is an Ulster side who are certainly on the right track.
