A sad day for Rangers and all their loyal fans world wide with the news that the club has been placed in administration. The decision was taken today in the courts and it means an automatic ten points suspension which in effect hands the Premier League title to their huge rivals Celtic.
This is a serious blow to the sport not just Scottish football. Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and you have to wonder how they got themselves into this sort of mess.
There now is even speculation that their game with Kilmarnock at the weekend may not be played as there may be a problem paying the police for security.
It is without doubt a sorry mess and one that bodes ill for football overall with so many other clubs struggling to keep afloat. Portsmouth are now back in the dock for the second time in two years and you just have to wonder who will be next.
As it stands Celtic will take the league title but even the most ardent fans of the Glasgow club will know that this is a serious situation for everyone who loves Scottish football.
Donegal will begin their defence of the Ulster Championship on Sunday with a victory away to outsiders Cavan at Breffni Park. Cavan have been threw a serious over haul in recent weeks with Val Andrews quitting as manager after the players demanded he go. He’s been replaced by Under 21 boss Terry Hyland.

They led Sunderland 1-0 away from home as City struggled 2-1 at home to QPR. And then came a crazy five minutes. After incredible work by QPR and their keeper Kenny first Dzeko stole in for the equaliser and then in the dying seconds Aguero pounced for the winner and the clincher for the title.
