Sorry Day for Football

Monday, February 13th, 2012

The United Liverpool game was a sad chapter for football. The game was over shadowed by events between Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra. According to both managers they said they had spoken to both players before the game and both said they would shake hands.

In the end no handshake and headlines all round the world for all the wrong reasons.

If Suarez felt he was hard done by he should have told his manager he would not shake the hand of Evra. The manager could then have decided not to play him. But to tell Daglish he would  and then do that was awful.

Patrice Evra didn’t cover himself in glory at the end either. Neither did Daglish nor Ferguson. Alex Ferguson has no right to question another club. All of his lads are hardly saints. He should have just condemned the player as was his right but he also should have condemned Evra not just say he shouldn’t have done that. And Kenny Daglish was very poor in his after match interviews.

Now comes the so called apology from Suarez. It’s hard to know if it was heart felt. I think Daglish was honest all the same and it was big of United accept it. You wonder what part the FA had to play in all of this.

In fact they should have had it all worked out beforehand. As we say in the business the best ad libs are written.

Either way I just hope this puts an end to it all.

Liverpool need to get their act together because what happened on Saturday did little for their image. As usual United will claim the higher moral ground and again as I’ve seen on Twitter you simply cannot say anything bad about United otherwise their fans throw the dummy out of the pram.

It was a bad for football. Let’s hope that is the end of it for once and for all.

City Finish on a High

It has to be one of the most dramatic finishes ever in the history of the Premiership. With minutes left City looked to have blown it and United looked to be on their way to glory. They led Sunderland 1-0 away from home as City struggled 2-1 at home to QPR. And then came a crazy five minutes. After incredible work by QPR and their keeper Kenny first Dzeko stole in for the equaliser and then in the dying seconds Aguero pounced  for the winner and the clincher for the title.
