Stephen Ferris is available for the clash with France this weekend after being cleared of the citing charge arising out of the Wales game. Ferris was cited after the foul on Ian Evans which led to the winning penalty at the Aviva stadium. Ferris later said on twitter he was a happy man. We all are. The player didn’t deserve to be cited for an incident which many people within the sport felt was a harsh penalty in the first place.
Wales lock Bradley Davies wasn’t so lucky. He was slapped with a seven week ban and he will miss the rest of the Six Nations. He was found guilty for his tip tackle on Donnacha Ryan. Davies will be eligible for the Cardiff Blues when they take on Leinster in the Heineken Cup quarter final.
Glad to see Ferris getting off but you do have to wonder why he was even made to go to London to face the charge.
Donegal will begin their defence of the Ulster Championship on Sunday with a victory away to outsiders Cavan at Breffni Park. Cavan have been threw a serious over haul in recent weeks with Val Andrews quitting as manager after the players demanded he go. He’s been replaced by Under 21 boss Terry Hyland.
