Manchester United paid former keeper Harry Gregg the ultimate compliment with a star studded line up for his testimonial game at Windsor Park. 15,000 fans saw United win easily 4-1 but the game was more about Harry Gregg than the result. Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans Captained the side for the night and United won with goals from Patrice Evra, two from Ashley Young and a penalty from Wayne Rooney. Chris Scannell equalised for the Irish league select.
Before the game Alex Ferguson paid a warm tribute to Harry Gregg who was one of the Munich survivors. He said that the disaster and Harry Gregg were part of the history of a famous club and he deserved every respect. Sunderland boss Martin O’ Neill guested as the boss of the Irish league select and he too praised fellow Northern Ireland international Gregg.
A superb occasion and a proper event for one of the true legends of the game. Well done Harry.

Alex Ferguson has been selected as the best manager in the Premiership in the past twenty years and Ryan Giggs has made it a United double named as the best player. They recieved their rewards at a special ceremony marking two decades of the league. Wayne Rooney won the goal of the last twenty years for his spectacular over head kick against Manchester City. In a public poll Manchester United got seven players in the top team as voted by the public. But how on earth Roy didn’t make that side is anyone’s guess.

Alex McLeish managed top keep Aston Villa in the Premiership but he paid for a terrible run of results and was fired just 23 hours after their final game. McLeish wasn’t popular at Villa. He had moved from city rivals Birmingham and for some fans that was the final straw. That may have played a part but in the end it was a poor run of results which proved to be his downfall.
He only won four home games out of nineteen and they club finished in 16th place five points behind Wigan. In all honesty Villa are the worst side to have survived the cut and his removal was no real surprise.
Already there is speculation that Paul Lambert has ear marked for the job but Norwich say they are determined to hold on to their manager.
